Spring is here, and Cambridge is ready to celebrate.
Join neighbors, families, local businesses, and community organizations on Sunday, May 17, 2026, for the third annual Owlkill Festival at the Owlkill Commons in downtown Cambridge. Organized by the Cambridge Valley Community Development and Preservation Partnership and the Cambridge Valley Farmers Market, the festival marks the opening of the 2026 Farmers Market season with music, food, games, activities, and the return of the community’s favorite event; the Rubber Duck Derby.
The festival runs for five hours at Owlkill Commons, located near 17 West Main Street, Cambridge, NY.
Rubber Duck Derby Returns to the Owl Kill
One of the festival’s signature traditions returns with races for all ages and prizes donated by local businesses.
Race Schedule
11:30 AM - Special Painted Duck Race*
12:00 PM - Kids ages 6 and under
12:30 PM - Youth ages 7–20
1:00 PM - Adults ages 21+
Prize sponsors include Battenkill Books, Black Dog Wines, Cambridge Depot, Country Gals Cafe, and Stewart’s Shops.
*The Special Painted Duck Race is a collaboration with Cambridge Central School and is free for all UPK–2 students thanks to support from local community sponsors.

Live music from Dan Costello and Debe Dalton (10:00–11:30 AM)
Food trucks from Savory Pig and Sage Pizza Company
Horse-drawn carriage rides
Family Yoga with Yo Re Mi (1:00–2:00 PM) — bring a mat or blanket
Popcorn and cotton candy supporting the CCS Band
Youth sports stations for football, baseball, and soccer
A community Book Nook hosted with Battenkill Books
Business Bingo featuring participating Cambridge businesses
An interactive gaming challenge with local creator Charlie Dill
The “Get Them to Nationals” foot race at 2:00 PM behind the Cambridge Village Market
Canteen Coffee will also be open throughout the day just down the street.
Infrastructure Tour Highlights Community Investment
At 10:30 AM, attendees can join a guided infrastructure tour exploring the community wastewater improvements that supported revitalization efforts around the Railyard and Hubbard Hall blocks.
The walk offers residents an opportunity to better understand the long-term infrastructure investments helping support future development in Cambridge.
Celebrating Community at Owlkill Commons
The Owlkill Festival was created to bring neighbors together, celebrate the Owlkill Commons, and highlight the organizations, businesses, and volunteers that make Cambridge a vibrant place to live and work.
